Le musée a eu le plaisir d'accueillir un groupe de la commune de Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, avec le bourgmestre Emir Kir. Cette année marque les 60 ans des accords bilatéraux entre la Belgique et la Turquie, ainsi qu'entre la Belgique et le Maroc. À cette occasion, le musée récolte des histoires de cette période migratoire pour les mettre en lumière et rendre hommage aux migrants venus dans les années 60. Nous remercions Emir Kir pour sa visite.

Het museum had het genoegen om een groep uit de gemeente Sint-Joost-ten-Node te verwelkomen, met burgemeester Emir Kir. Dit jaar markeert de 60ste verjaardag van de bilaterale akkoorden tussen België en Turkije, evenals tussen België en Marokko. Ter gelegenheid daarvan verzamelt het museum verhalen uit deze migratieperiode om ze in de schijnwerpers te zetten en eer te bewijzen aan de migranten die in de jaren 60 zijn gekomen. We danken Emir Kir voor zijn bezoek.

Vernissage 8th of May, at 11 a.m.

The MigratieMuseumMigration is pleased to invite you to the opening of a new exhibition “Identity on the line” on May 8th, where we will explore the theme of migration and cultural diversity.

Migration movements impose a lot on migrants. Their lives and health are threatened, their right to self-determination is challenged, and their individual identities become objects of prejudice and actions by others.

However, all migration processes, even the most painful ones, lead to a new cultural diversity, which can be seen as a positive force in today's societies. Shared experiences strengthen European citizens and contribute to creating our common European identity. "Identity on the line" is an exhibition that puts migration and its challenges into perspective.

🎉🍽️ Samedi dernier, c'était l'inauguration tant attendue du restaurant El Chiringuito ! Niché dans un endroit chargé d'histoire, ce lieu emblématique a été choisi par le chef Ridouan Daali, un ancien du Foyer, pour abriter non seulement un restaurant, mais aussi un petit espace muséal en collaboration avec le Foyer et le MigratieMuseumMigration. Une expérience unique que le musée espère pouvoir reproduire ailleurs dans le futur ! L'ouverture a été un véritable succès, et vous pouvez désormais retrouver ce joyau gastronomique sur la place communale de Molenbeek.

🎉🍽️ Zaterdag 13 april opende het restaurant El Chiringuito voor het eerst zijn deuren, op een plaats met een verleden. Op voorstel van chef-kok Ridouan Daali, een oud-jongere van de Foyer), hebben de Foyer en het MigratieMuseumMigration er een kleine museale locatie aan verbonden, een experiment dat het museum ook elders zullen proberen door te zetten. De opening was een groot succes, het restaurant bevindt zich op het gemeentelijk plein van Molenbeek.

Le MigratieMuseumMigration souhaite remercier toutes les personnes qui ont participé au vernissage de "Les survivants invisibles de l’Holocauste" aujourd'hui, à l'occasion de la Journée Internationale des Roms. L'exposition a touché nos cœurs et nous a rappelé l'importance de ne jamais oublier.

Nous tenons aussi à remercier chaleureusement la Secrétaire d’État à l’Égalité des Chances Nawal Ben Hamou, la bourgmestre de Molenbeek Catherine Moureaux, et les curateurs Yahad - In Unum et Patrick Desbois pour leur engagement.

Het MigratieMuseumMigration wil graag alle aanwezigen bedanken die deel hebben genomen aan de vernissage van "De onzichtbare overlevenden van de Holocaust" vandaag, ter gelegenheid van de Internationale Dag van de Roma. De tentoonstelling heeft onze harten geraakt en ons eraan herinnerd hoe belangrijk het is om nooit te vergeten.

Ontdek het kunstwerk "Bru-T-Opia" door Tom Frantzen in de tuin van het MMM 😃

"Bru-Topia" toont een abstracte muurconstructie in geroest ijzer met bronzen figuren die symbool staan voor mensen op zoek naar geluk in Brussel, de hoofdstad van Europa. Verschillende mensen komen vanuit alle richtingen naar Brussel, te voet, per trein, per vrachtwagen, of per boot. De sculptuur toont Brussel als een bouwwerf, waar samen wordt gewerkt aan een welvarende stad waar iedereen welkom is. Dakwerkers symboliseren de veiligheid en bescherming die de stad biedt, terwijl een gelukkig koppel een boom plant, wat staat voor Brussel als een groene stad. Sporters zoals voetballers, skaters en hiphoppers staan symbool voor de kansen die Brussel biedt aan jongeren.

"Bru-Topia" présente une construction murale abstraite en fer rouillé avec des figures en bronze symbolisant des personnes en quête de bonheur à Bruxelles, la capitale de l'Europe. Diverses personnes viennent de toutes parts vers Bruxelles, à pied, en train, en camion ou en bateau. La sculpture représente Bruxelles comme un chantier, où l'on travaille ensemble pour construire une ville prospère où tout le monde est le bienvenu. Les couvreurs symbolisent la sécurité et la protection que la ville offre, tandis qu'un couple heureux plante un arbre, représentant Bruxelles comme une ville verte. Les sportifs tels que les footballeurs, les skateurs et les danseurs de hip-hop symbolisent les opportunités offertes par Bruxelles aux jeunes.

You've surely noticed the new artworks in the MMM garden. But what do they represent? 🧐

Miriam Kaminská, born in Prague in 1989 and a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2018, delves into themes of individual psychology, partner reciprocity, and human archetypes through her sculptures and paper artworks. Her style, marked by linear figuration and abstracted forms, adeptly captures the essence of her observations. Transitioning from introspection to a more liberated expression, her later works incorporate playful elements.

Kaminská sees her sculptures as living entities inspired by nature, often resembling tree branches, inviting viewers to explore their abstract shapes and engage their imaginations. Through pairs of forms in contrasting colors, she symbolizes principles such as yin and yang, reflecting her enduring focus on love and the quest for wholeness.
